How to clean silverware

What you will need:

  • Tin Foil
  • Bicarbonate of Soda
  • Boiling Water
  • Plastic Container
  • Dishwashing Liquid
  • Soft Cloth

Method:

  1. Place a piece of tin foil in the bottom of the plastic container.
  2. Pour boiling water on top of the foil making sure add enough for the amount of silverware.
  3. Add ½ a cup of bicarbonate of soda to the water.
  4. Place silverware into container ensuring all silverware is spread out evenly on top of the foil.
  5. Leave for 5 – 10 minutes for process to take effect.
  6. Once clean remove from water.
  7. Wash immediately in warm soapy water.
  8. Dry and polish with a soft cloth.

How to clean brassware

What you will need:

  • Salt
  • Vinegar
  • Plain Flour
  • Clean work surface
  • Dishwashing Liquid
  • Water
  • Soft Cloth
  • Bowl

Method:

  1. Mix ½ a teaspoon of salt with ½ a cup of vinegar in a bowl.
  2. Gradually add plain flour until mixture forms a paste.
  3. Once you have a paste like mixture, apply the paste to your brassware ensuring each item is fully covered with the mixture.
  4. Leave for 5 – 10 minutes to process.
  5. Rub each item with the mixture before rinsing with warm soapy water.
  6. Once the paste has been rinsed off use a soft cloth to buff.
