Retiling, Why Not Paint?

Retiling your home can be exhausting. It takes a lot of time, budget, labour and motivation.

Thank goodness there is another option. To Paint! It’s an easy way to makeover your home without blowing your budget and extending your renovation period. With today’s paint techniques, you can easily prepare a tiled surface to be painted to ensure that this new fresh look with last.

First you need to prepare the area:

– Clean the tiled surface to remove dust and grease.

– Scrub the grouted areas.

– Fill any cracks or chips.

Next you will need to purchase the right paint. If you are painting a bathroom you will have to choose a steam resistant paint. Choose a good quality primer for inter-coat adhesion. You can purchase a primer that is specific for tiles, but a universal primer will do as well.

Now it the fun part, choosing a fun colour!

Remember to do at least two coats and to let the surfaces fully dry between coats.
