Give Your Fireplace an Awesome Makeover
If you live in an older home and you have a fireplace, odds are that it’s an outdated brick fireplace. Don’t get us wrong, brick fireplaces can look amazing, and if you love this look, by all means keep it. Today though, we are showing you how to give your old fireplace a new, more modern look.
What you’ll need:
- Painter’s tape
- Thick nap paint roller
- Primer
- Acrylic paint
What to do:
- As always, prep work is important. Start by taping off the fireplace with painter’s tape to ensure a neat finish.
- Cover the entire surface with a primer with your thick nap roller. If you wish, you can use a paintbrush for this purpose as well.
- If you’re not satisfied with the cover, give your fireplace a second coat of primer.
- Next, paint over the primer with your desired colour. White offers a clean, modern look, but darker colours, like black or cement grey offer a more dramatic feel.
- That’s it. Now you just need to let your paint dry, remove the tape and hang a decorative mirror.
